Cantha
Cantha reopens its borders to the world
After more than two centuries closed off under Emperor Usoku, the Empire of the Dragon reopens its borders to central Tyria, and the Aetherblades return north as the Pact Commander travels to Cantha.
Generations earlier, Emperor Usoku had unified Cantha by force and severed all bonds with central Tyria and Elona, leaving the Dragon Empire isolated behind sealed borders. In 1335 AE the Empire reopens to the wider world, and the Pact Commander sails south to investigate the Aetherblades — the pirate fleet that had returned to central Tyria — and the unstable magic radiating from the petrified Jade Sea.
The Cantha the Commander finds has reshaped itself around the Jade Wind's legacy: the petrified sea has been mined for "dragonjade," and a thoroughly modern New Kaineng City rises where the old capital stood. The reopening sets the stage for the final reckoning with the Elder Dragon cycle.
