Caudecus turns the White Mantle against Kryta

The cult's ambitions burst into the open in 1329 AE when Minister Caudecus Beetlestone, long Queen Jennah's rival in the Ministry, was unmasked at Bloodstone Fen as the Confessor of the White Mantle. He proclaimed his intent to take the Krytan throne by force.

The war he set in motion did not reach its climax until the following year. In 1330 AE, marshalling White Mantle warbands, bandits, and bloodstone-maddened centaurs, Caudecus launched an armed siege of Divinity's Reach from Lake Doric, the culmination of the civil war that had destabilised Jennah's reign. The conflict was tangled further by the deception surrounding Lazarus the Dire, whose supposed resurrection split the Mantle against itself.
