Cantha
Chang Hai becomes the first Ascendant Emperor
1 AE511 CC201 DRFirm date
Prince Chang Hai, a warrior-monk who attained Weh no Su, ascends as the eleventh Emperor of Cantha — the first to be called Ascendant Emperor — opening the Age of the Bat.
Chang Hai rejected his family's path to train as a warrior-monk, wandering Cantha performing heroic deeds until he achieved the enlightened state the Canthans call Weh no Su. When his father died he took the throne as the eleventh Canthan Emperor and the first "Ascendant Emperor" rather than "Emperor Lord."
From Chang Hai onward, every Canthan Emperor was required to attain Weh no Su, by family tradition or by law. His ascension marks the beginning of the Age of the Bat in the Canthan calendar.
