A plague of flesh-burrowing scarabs sweeps out of Fahranur across Elona, killing indiscriminately and wiping out the royal house — ending the Primeval Dynasty and emptying Istan for sixty-eight years.
In 452 AE an uncontrollable disease — scarabs tearing through their victims from within — spread out of Fahranur and across Elona, decimating the population and destroying cities as panicked refugees carried it further. It extinguished the royal house and ended the Primeval Dynasty, leaving Elona without rulers; the island of Istan was abandoned entirely for sixty-eight years. The dynasty's fall opened the long age of the Great Dynasty and, later, the Shattered Dynasties.
