In 880 AE, Canthan farming expansion onto Shing Jea Island sparks the Tengu Wars — a conflict between the settling humans and the island's native tengu that would last 191 years.

The Tengu Wars began in 880 AE (1390 CC), when Canthan farmers pushed their settlements onto Shing Jea Island and encroached on the territory of its native tengu. Friction over the land — worsened as human settlement spread and disease reached the tengu and their hatchlings — hardened into open, lasting war.

The conflict endured for 191 years, ending in 1071 AE with peace accords between humans and tengu. The reconciliation was later commemorated by a shared festival held a year after the fighting finally ceased.
