The Searing devastates Ascalon

1070 AE1,580 CC1,270 DRFirm date

The Charr invasion culminates in the Searing, a rain of fire that scorches the kingdom of Ascalon to ash and abruptly ends the Third Guild War.

In 1070 AE the Charr swept south into Ascalon and unleashed the Searing: cataclysmic crystals fell from the sky, igniting the land and transforming verdant Ascalon into the blasted, ashen waste of the post-Searing world. The disaster shattered the human kingdom and brought the Third Guild War — the conflict between Ascalon, Kryta, and Orr — to a sudden close as the surviving nations reeled from the Charr onslaught. The Searing is the dividing line of the Prophecies campaign: everything before it is "pre-Searing" Ascalon.
