Orr
The Cataclysm drowns Orr
Vizier Khilbron unleashes a forbidden spell that sinks the nation of Orr beneath the waves; its waters become the Sea of Sorrows and the drowned dead are bound to the Realm of Torment.
As the Third Guild War raged, Vizier Khilbron of Orr searched forbidden texts and found a scroll the gods had hidden away. He loosed its power upon the land, and in a flash of light and explosion of flame the nation of Orr crumbled and sank into the sea. Krytan sailors renamed the surrounding waters the Sea of Sorrows. What reads as Khilbron’s own desperate defence of Orr was in truth orchestrated by the fallen god Abaddon: his demonic agent Razakel (posing as an Orrian named Terick) had manipulated the Vizier into loosing the spell, and Khilbron had by then already been converted to Abaddon’s worship, so the disaster was Abaddon’s design working through him. The catastrophe’s reach extended beyond the physical world: many of those slain in the Cataclysm were drawn into the Realm of Torment, bound there by Abaddon’s influence, a thread the Nightfall campaign later unravels.
