The Luxons and Kurzicks break from the Empire of the Dragon

Under imperial persecution, the seafaring Luxons and the forest-dwelling Kurzicks rise against Cantha's Empire of the Dragon and are subdued into vassal clans — the Luxons in 462 BE, the Kurzicks in 459 BE — founding the two great houses whose rivalry will define Cantha.

Roughly half a century after Kaineng Tah unified Cantha, two of its peoples chafed under imperial rule. After Emperor Yian Zho took the throne in 464 BE (46 CC), the Luxons of the Jade Sea endured mass executions of their elders; the survivors united and attempted to secede. To halt the killing, in 462 BE (48 CC) they accepted a new status as a vassal clan of the Empire of the Dragon.

The deeply religious Kurzicks of the Echovald Forest likewise banded together to fend off the empire before being brought to heel as a vassal clan in 459 BE (51 CC). The two subjugated houses — the nomadic, warlike Luxons and the devout Kurzicks — became the twin vassals of Cantha, and their long enmity would still burn centuries later in the age of the great Factions.
