The dwarves become stone

1125 AE1,635 CC1,325 DRFirm date

The last of the flesh-and-blood dwarves answer the call of the Rite of the Great Dwarf, completing their race's passage into living stone to fight Primordus's destroyers below the world.

By 1125 AE the destroyers, the molten servants of the newly risen Primordus, were boiling up through the deep places of the world. Roughly fifty years earlier, King Jalis Ironhammer had first performed the Rite of the Great Dwarf, transforming dwarves into living stone to carry on the fight; now the last of the flesh-and-blood dwarves felt the same call and underwent the Rite themselves, completing their race's passage into stone.

As Ogden Stonehealer later recounts, the dwarves effectively went extinct as a race of flesh, the survivors fighting on far below the surface against Primordus's minions.
