The dwarves become stone
The last of the dwarves invoke a ritual that turns their entire race to immortal stone, sacrificing their flesh to fight Primordus's destroyers below the world.
By 1125 AE the dwarves faced the destroyers, the molten servants of the newly risen Primordus. To stand against them, the dwarven king invoked a ritual blessing of the Great Dwarf that transformed the whole race into living stone — immortal but no longer flesh and blood, their spirits strengthened for an endless war underground.
As Ogden Stonehealer later recounts, the dwarves effectively went extinct as a race of flesh, and the few survivors fought on far below the surface. The same year, the Zephyrites were founded as successors to the Brotherhood of the Dragon, carrying that legacy forward.
