The aged centaur Ventari, who tended the young Pale Tree with the human Ronan, dies at its roots — leaving a carved tablet of peaceful values that will become the founding philosophy of the sylvari.
The Pale Tree grew from a seed planted on the Tarnished Coast by Ronan, a Shining Blade warrior, on the graves of his family; he and the centaur Ventari nurtured it together. Before his death around 1180 AE, Ventari carved a tablet setting down a creed of peace, harmony, and the worth of all life and placed it at the Tree's roots. More than a century later the Pale Tree would awaken her children, the sylvari, with the Ventari Tablet as the bedrock of their philosophy.
