The Canthan inventor Yu Joon first discovers dragonjade — jade from the petrified Jade Sea that has stored magic for centuries — and begins the experiments that will grow into Jadetech.
Long after the Jade Wind swept across Cantha and petrified the Jade Sea, the stone left behind still held magic locked within it. In 1310 AE the Canthan inventor Yu Joon first recognizes this 'dragonjade' for what it is — a material that had been storing magical energy for centuries — and begins experimenting with it as a power source.
Her tinkering is the seed of Jadetech. Partnering with Park Chul-Moo, Joon would build the Xunlai Jade company around mass-producing jade-powered devices, an industry that reshapes everyday Canthan life and gives the gleaming New Kaineng City of Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons its distinctive jade technology.
