Abaddon gifts magic to the races of Tyria
In 1 BE the God of Water and Secrets, Abaddon, spreads the knowledge of magic to humans, charr, dwarves, tengu and all the sentient races — but the gift is given too freely.
The Six Gods resolved to grant magic to the mortal races, and it was Abaddon — the God of Water, Knowledge and Secrets, Keeper of Secrets and Lord of the Everlasting Depths — who rose to the task. In 1 BE he bestowed the knowledge of magic upon humans, the charr, the tengu, the dwarves, the minotaurs, the imps and all the races of the land.
The gift was meant to ease a life of toil, but it was given far too freely. The phrase "act with magic, act within reason, act without mercy" is attributed to Abaddon's teachings. Within the year his unmeasured generosity would set the races against one another in one of the bloodiest wars Tyria had ever seen.
