The gods had not counted on one thing — greed. As soon as magic spread, wars broke out as the magical races fought one another for dominance. So much destruction was wrought across Tyria that humanity found itself at the very edge of extinction.
With the world tearing itself apart, the catastrophe set the stage for King Doric's desperate journey to the city of the gods. The wars of magic are the disaster the whole Exodus narrative pivots upon: the gods' answer would be to gather the gift back and lock it away forever.
