Almorra founds the Vigil from a Branded tragedy
When Kralkatorrik's passage Brands her entire warband, the Blood Legion Legionnaire Almorra Soulkeeper is forced to cut them down, then channels her grief into founding the Vigil — a multiracial order sworn to destroy the Elder Dragons.
As Kralkatorrik flew over Ascalon in 1320 AE, the dragon's corruption swept up the warband of the charr Legionnaire Almorra Soulkeeper, transforming her soldiers into crystalline Branded. In the catastrophe remembered as Almorra's Massacre, she was forced to kill her own warband in self-defense.
Devastated, Almorra was urged by the sylvari Laranthir of the Wild to turn her loss into purpose. She founded the Vigil, recruiting others who had suffered at the dragons' hands into a disciplined, multiracial military order. Holding to the creed "Some must fight, so that all may be free," the Vigil rejects passivity in the face of an enemy that grows stronger by the day — and would later become one of the three pillars of the Pact.
