Claw Island falls — and the Pact is born
Zhaitan's dragon champion Blightghast the Plaguebringer leads a Risen fleet against Claw Island, overrunning the Lionguard and threatening Lion's Arch; in response, Tyria's three great orders bury their rivalries and form the Pact under Trahearne and the Pact Commander.
By 1325 AE, Zhaitan's lieutenants were leading Risen ever deeper into Tyria, though most dismissed the raids as isolated incidents. The scholar Trahearne warned the Lionguard of a massive force gathering in Orr, but Watch Commander Talon was unconvinced — until a fleet of Dead Ships fell upon Claw Island, the fortress guarding the approach to Lion's Arch.
Waves of Risen overwhelmed the defenders, and the dragon champion Blightghast the Plaguebringer shattered the walls. The survivors evacuated to Lion's Arch with their wounded, lighting the beacons to warn the city. With Zhaitan poised to rip out the heart of Tyria, the long-bickering Durmand Priory, Order of Whispers, and Vigil pooled their resources and founded the Pact — the greatest alliance Tyria had ever seen — under the leadership of the sylvari Firstborn Trahearne and his trusted ally, the Pact Commander, sworn to retake Claw Island and destroy the Elder Dragons one by one.
