The Great Giants vanish from Tyria

Around 10,000 BE the last of the giganticus lupicus — the Great Giants — disappear from the Tyrian continent, a disappearance that coincides with the last rising of the Elder Dragons and is believed to have been caused by them.

The giganticus lupicus, known to scholars as the Great Giants, were a group of gigantic ancient races that walked Tyria long before modern records began. Their disappearance from the northern continent around 10,000 BE coincides with the last rise of the Elder Dragons, and the Durmand Priory holds that the dragons were responsible for their extinction.

Virtually nothing survives of the Great Giants' culture or history. What little is known of their physiology comes from the gargantuan skeletons found across the world — particularly in the Crystal Desert and the Desolation — whose dramatic variance in size and skull structure reflects that "giganticus lupicus" names not one race but several. The only Great Giant ever observed by the modern races was the Risen Temple Guard of Arah, a likely juvenile killed and corrupted into undeath by the Elder Dragon Zhaitan.
